In addition to performing monologues, the actors will help guide visitors through the exhibit "Captain John and Sarah Avery: A 17th Century Family on Delaware's Frontier." This event will be held Saturday, October 23 and Sunday, October 24 from 1:00-5:00 pm. Utilizing artifacts discovered at the site as a point of reference, the exhibit explores the shifting economic and cultural traditions of the English and Dutch colonists, and their interaction with local American Indian communities, illuminating the joys and hardships of daily life in Sussex County in the late 1600s and early 1700s. Objects include German and English pottery, Native American artifacts including pipes and spearheads, British tobacco pipes and works made of iron. This program is partially funded by a grant from the Delaware Humanities Forum, a state program of the National Endowment for the Humanities.
OCTOBER 23 & 24 - Come Meet the Avery family! from 1-5 p.m. The Rehoboth Beach Museum will partner with Clear Space Theater to stage a family friendly interactive experience that introduces visitors to members of the Avery household, including Sarah, a worker on the Avery’s farm, and the fiery Captain John himself!
