Tree Lighting & Hometown Sing-a-Long – Hundreds gathered at the bandstand for the annual holiday tree lighting and hometown sing-a-long, a Rehoboth Beach tradition! The sing-a-long featured Singer/Songwriter Doug James and his good friend Mrs. Claus! Browseabout Books will handed out blinking noses to make sure Santa sees us as everyone sang and celebrated the season!
The Rehoboth Beach Farmers’ Market Holiday Market- The Rehoboth Beach Farmers’ Market Holiday Market was held on Saturday, November 26 in Grove Park from Noon-3:00 PM. Many of your favorite vendors were there with holiday decorations and holiday goodies. See www.rbfarmersmarket.com for details. Visit Rehoboth Beach Main Street holiday booth to purchase downtown gift certificates that can be redeemed at over 200 Main Street merchants.
Community Unity Spaghetti Dinner held on Sunday, December 4, 2011 from 4:00 PM- 7:00 PM at the Convention Center, presented by Main Street and provided by the famous Nicola's Pizza. It was a fantastic meal, featuring spaghetti, meatballs, a salad bar, beverages and awesome desserts. There was entertainment by the Tim Laushey Trio plus a Santa Claus for kids of all ages. Tickets were sold at the door: $8 dollars per person, free admission for kids under 6. Also at Community Unity, Main Street bestowed its Citizen of the Year Award to Patricia Derrick. Rehoboth Beach Main Street would like to thank the following for their continued support of the Community Unity Dinner: Nicola's Pizza, Blue Moon Restaurant, CAMP Rehoboth, The Bake Shoppe, The Coffee Mill, Dos Locos, McDonald's, Grotto Pizza and "Santa's helper" Dennis Diehl.
Hometown Christmas Parade - December 6, 2011 - Tuesday evening along Rehoboth Avenue beginning at 6:30 p.m. A local tradition, the parade will feature more music, more costumes and more fun than ever, with volunteers from the Fire Department, Police, Public Works and community organizations. Dozens of local groups, bands and participants have already signed up. Line-up starts at 4:30. The parade begins at State Road, travels East to the Boardwalk and the turns West and goes back up to the Convention Center. Parade entrants are judged, with prizes awarded at the Christmas Party immediately following the parade at Convention Hall. Youngsters can chat with Santa and light refreshments will be served. Seaside Holidays - Be a "Deer", Shop Downtown this Year! - December 2, 9 and 16, 2011 - on Friday evenings shops will be open late and serving nibbles for your holiday shopping pleasure. Pick up a gift bag filled with specials, shopping and dining coupons at the wrapping station starting at 6pm.
Wrapping Station - at Grotto Gelato on Rehoboth Ave is sponsored by Bad Hair Day and Azura. M&T Bank will sponsor the gift wrapping on December 2nd with various other community organizations lending their support as well.
Gift Away - Enter to win a gift basket worth over $1000 of items donated by downtown merchants. A lucky shopper will win. Come downtown and fill-out a Gift Away chance. Drawings will be held on Friday, December 2nd, 9th and 16th.
Carolers - Under the supervision of Cape Henlopen High School's Choir Director, Louise Foster, The Cape Chorale and Cape Choir will be strolling Rehoboth, Baltimore and Wilmington Avenues singing some of your favorite holiday tunes.
Fawn Frenzy - Ladies Night - December 9, 2011 - Cocktail and shopping specials. Pick up a goody bag at Grotto Gelato and fill out "A Few of My Favorite Things" cards.
Santa's House
Santa has announced his hours and house location for taking Christmas orders. Santa's House will be on the Rehoboth Beach Boardwalk at the end of Rehoboth Avenue. Stop by and tell Santa your Christmas list! Remember to bring your camera. Pet Visits with Santa! Bring your pet by Santa's house to pose for photos on Saturday, December 18th. There is no charge to visit Santa, however donations are appreciated.
