Downtown Rehoboth celebrated Oktoberfest
Downtown Rehoboth Beach was the place to be on the first weekend in October as our downtown restaurants celebrated the First Rehoboth Beach Oktoberfest!
About 20 restaurants signed on to participate with special menus, special Oktoberfest beer and a salute to well-brewed beer, sausages and much more.
The event, sponsored by Leinenkugel and Blue Moon (Pumpkin Ale), and presented by Rehoboth Beach Main Street, brought us the best in German cuisine coupled with a great party atmosphere, terrific music and the raising of a beer stein or three or four!
Oktoberfest is celebrated in Germany beginning the end of September with a two-week beer bash, dancing, and oom-pah bands. Rehoboth restaurants got into the act this year on Friday, Oct. 3 through Sunday, Oct. 5 to start a brand new tradition downtown.
Turning downtown into an Alpine village were Abstractions, Aqua Grill, Back Porch Cafe, Blue Moon, Cloud 9, Dos Locos, Dogfish Head, DISH, Finbar's Pub & Grill, Frogg Pond, Go Fish, Iguana Grill, Irish Eyes, Mariachi, Pig+Fish Restaurant, Purple Parrot Grill, Sammy's Kitchen, Seafood Shack, Shag, Victorias, and Wings to Go. They were busy cooking up recipes for Sauerbraten, Bratwurst, Weinerschnitzel and some incredibly creative takes on traditional German food.
Particpating restaurants allowed the oppertunity for bartenders, servers, etc. to dress up for Oktoberfest. Winners of this year's costume contest were Lisa Frampton and Mike DeWire from Pig+Fish! Congratulations and keep up the great work!

Oktoberfest was paired with a raffle to benefit Bear Hugs for Babies. Each venue could sell raffle tickets and participants took a chance to win some really cool prizes!
